FAQ's for Compliance Report

A CPAP or BiPAP Compliance Report is the measurement of how much you use your CPAP equipment and if it is working for you. Either your insurance company may require compliance or the government agencies such as Medicare, DOT (Department of Transportation), or the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).

The guideline for the compliance report is generally greater or equal to 4 hours per night on 70 percent of nights during a consecutive 30 days. In other words, you must be using your machine 4 hours a day for 70% of the nights. Think of the first 90 days of treatment as a “trial period”. What they look at is your usage after 31 days, but before the 90 day “trial period” ends. What they look for is 21 days of consecutive usage out of 30 days within the first 90 days of treatment.

Your CPAP or BiPAP Machine records your sleeping data and this data can be provided to your employer, doctor, or insurance company to ensure compliance. Successful CPAP/ BiPAP Therapy is measured by the number of hours the device is used, time spent sleeping, apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), and leak rate.
